The Scholarship Project accepts inquiries between November and April of each academic year.
Scholarships are renewable for up to four years subject to the recipient maintaining at least
a 3.0 cumulative grade point average and providing the Foundation with an accounting of how
the grant for the semester was used. Renewal application must be completed for each
academic year for which scholarship funds are requested. Awards are granted for a
specific period of study and are not carried over if unused.
High school seniors residing in the Northeast United States are eligible to apply for
scholarships. Special preference will be given to residents of Rockland County, NY.
The Scholarship Project does not support graduate studies.
An essay of no more than three pages must be submitted. This narrative should describe the
applicant and include financial need, special aptitudes, attributes and personal goals of
the candidate. Activities outside school, such as community service, clubs, employment,
student government and sports should be noted. Essays must be received before April 15.

If the essay submitted meets the criteria of The Scholarship Project, four letters of
reference and an official transcript must be submitted. The minimum academic
requirements are a B (90) cumulative grade point average and 1200 Scholastic Aptitude
Test (SAT) scores.
An application will be sent after the above documents are received. The most recent tax
return, only the top two pages of the parent(s)/legal guardian(s) IRS form 1040, must be
submitted with the completed application. An interview may be scheduled after this
information is reviewed.
No applications are considered after May 31.
All holders of a scholarship awarded under The Scholarship Project of the Chazen Foundation are under obligation to:
- Maintain a high standard of conduct and study
- Use his or her resources wisely and keep his or her budget in balance
- Submit semi-annual reports, verified by an official transcript, of the courses taken and grades received by the scholarship recipient in each academic period
- Make a semi-annual accounting of the scholarship funds at the end of each academic term, specifying the use of the funds received. To verify this, the recipient will be expected to submit copies of bills for tuition, room and board, books and supplies, as appropriate.

Chazen Foundation awards are outright grants. Although a recipient is under no commitment to make repayment, it is hoped that a contribution will be made to the foundation to give future students a similar financial opportunity.
